WATCH: San Diego Harbor Cruise Plows Into Pier Right in Front of Tourists

2 April 2016

A scary moment captured on video Thursday as a harbor cruise ship slammed into a crowded pier in San Diego, sending waiting tourists scrambling to get out of the way.

Officials said seven people suffered minor injuries when the Adventure Hornblower plowed into San Diego’s Broadway Pier along the Embarcadero after returning from a sightseeing cruise at around 1 p.m.

The San Diego Fire Department confirmed that 3 people were taken to the hospital with “traumatic injuries”.

The 150-foot-long Adventure Hornblower is a owned and operated by Hornblower Cruises and certified for ocean cruising and whale and dolphin watching.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

This incident is a great example of why the NTSB has warned to passengers to stay off stairs during high-risk situations such as docking to reduce the risk of serious injuries when these accidents do occur. Remember, “First one off, last one home!”.
